Maternity are proud to announce the return of one of the UK’s most intriguing bands, We Yes You No. We have been following their progress over the last few years, observing their transition from anonymous obscurity into one of the most original live music experiences currently touring the underground scene.
Formed from adverts in music magazines and counting four different nationalities within their members, We Yes You No make avant-garde pop music that blurs boundaries between experimental and commercial, projecting the former under the guise of the later.
Their new EP, Somewhere on a Train is the first of three that the band will release this year as they build on their already impressive catalogue of releases and accolades. Maternity will be releasing a free track from each EP, starting this month with the haunting I Live in New York. We will follow this with a free download release of remixes of the band which will coincide with the release of the next EP.
Some words from We Yes You No:
“Hello. We are relatively new and relatively old. We sound like words, tones and notes – but better. We play atmospheric, eccentric and melodic songs, and try to tell people that the world is on the verge of turning flat. Our music, a kind of unusual, impressionstic art-rock with elements of noir, classical music and surf has been featured on several compilations (including Best of Myspace UK). We have recorded 2 EPs [ 'Everything' (2006) and Somewhere on a Train (2009)] and one full-length album [Music for Beginners (2007)]and are currently in the process of recording another 2 EPs.
We were awarded “Best Unsigned Recording of the Year” by Playmusic Magazine and our single “Dream in Motion” was described as “a timeless wonder” by Rob da Bank on BBC Radio1.”
